SONDER
Los Angeles, USA
Type: Narrative
Service: Production Planning, Cinematography/Videography
A surreal film within a film within a film, Sonder follows a cinematographer confronting the gradual loss of her eyesight while desperately trying to preserve her artistic vision. As reality, memory, and fiction begin to overlap, the film becomes a meditation on perception, creativity, and what it means to make images when the ability to see them is slowly disappearing.
Shot across 16mm, 8mm, and digital formats, each medium becomes part of the film’s shifting reality. The visual language moves between playful cinematic references, dreamlike compositions, and fragmented moments of heightened emotion, creating a distinctly European sensibility. The changing formats and layered narratives blur the boundaries between filmmaker and character, reality and fiction, ultimately turning the act of filmmaking itself into the subject.
